How to Fix CapCut Not Responding on Low-End PC (4GB RAM)
Sometimes, CapCut not responding on a low-end PC and that is annoying problem, especially when we are in the middle editing important video. This common issue more often on laptops 4GB RAM, older processors, like Intel i3/i5 gen 4 bellow, or integrated graphics.
I experienced this multiple times, while editing just a short videos on my old laptop with Windows 10. CapCut freeze, and show “Not Responding,” sometimes it crash completely and close it self. so, After tested it several fixes, the steps ill do it that proved that is the most reliable step and is working well for low-spec devices.
Why CapCut Not Responding Happens on Low-End PCs
On low-end hardware, CapCut oftenly struggle, its because the sistem build in for modern systems. and the most common causes include:
Limited RAM (4GB or less)
High preview resolution
Heavy effects or transitions
Background apps consuming memory
Recent Windows or CapCut updates
When memory runs out, Windows will be temporarily freezes the app, thats make the “Not Responding” message.
Fix #1: Lower CapCut Preview and Project Settings
This is the most important fix.
Before editing or exporting:
Set preview resolution to max 720p or bellow
Avoid 60 FPS projects, 30fFPS recommendedly
Use standard aspect ratios (16:9 or 9:16)
On my 4GB RAM laptop, reducing the preview resolution its stopped CapCut from freezing during timeline playback.
Fix #2: Close Background Applications
Low-end PCs cannot handle multitasking, while editing videos or rendering.
Before opening CapCut app, close:
Google Chrome or other browsers
File explorers
Game launchers
Background updaters
if necessary turn it off too window defender
I noticed that keeping Chrome open with just a few tabs, it almost caused CapCut to become unresponsive, that because chrome used RAM to much
Fix #3: Clear CapCut Cache Regularly
CapCut stores temporary cache files that can overload low-end systems.
Steps:
Open CapCut
Go to Settings
Click Clear Cache
Restart CapCut
Clearing cache freed memory and reduced random freezes on my laptop.
Fix #4: Disable Heavy Effects and Transitions
Some effects are too demanding for low-spec PCs.
Tips:
Avoid motion blur effects
Limit animated transitions
Use simple text animations
If CapCut freezes after adding an effect, remove it and test playback again.
Fix #5: Update or Roll Back CapCut
Sometimes newer versions are less stable on older hardware.
Try this:
Update CapCut to the latest version
If the issue started after an update, reinstall an older stable version
In my case, a newer update increased RAM usage significantly on low-end PCs.
